Caring Choices Safe Kids At Home
Caring Choices has partnered with Home and Health Care Management (the oldest home health agency in Butte County) to provide this Baby Safety Program. The program provides for a Registered Nurse to perform an in-home safety assessment in homes with children under the age of 5 years. As part of a one-visit assessment, the nurse will look for safety problems in the home and discuss with the parent or guardian ways to make the home safe for their infants and young children.
With funding from groups like the Soroptimist International of Chico, safety supplies will be left in the home in order to address the safety problems identified by the nurse. The supplies vary depending on the individual safety needs and include such items as cabinet locks, safety gates, oven knob covers, door knob covers, electrical socket plugs, and toilet seat locks. The nurse will instruct the parents/guardians regarding the proper use of these supplies.
There are no out of pocket costs for this program, but there are eligibility requirements. To qualify for this program, the infant/child must have full scope Medi-Cal with no share of cost and be under the age of 5 years. If you, or someone you know, meets these requirements and wishes to access this program call 1(800) 400-0727 and ask about the Baby Safety Program.
